Marketing Specialist, Member Acquisition and Retention

The Acquisition and Retention Marketing Specialist is an enthusiastic self-starter and a quick learner with an eye for detail.  This role will be expected to lead a wide variety of marketing initiatives, including executing a 5-year strategic plan that is focused on Acquisition and Renewal of orthopaedic professionals in all key segments domestically and internationally. This entails managing the resident group enrollment program, acquiring internal and external lead lists, managing digital/social strategies, internal communications, and more.   

This position will help oversee and execute a consistent brand voice and will support all communications and programming regarding member benefits and value to new and renewing members. Ideal candidates will have experience in B2C marketing and billing strategies. It is critical that the individual in this role can effectively support high visibility projects, has a solid grasp of general marketing principles and tools, and is a superb written and oral communicator. This person must have the ability to work with cross-functional departments within the organization, manage many projects simultaneously, and be able to organize and simplify information.  

  • Maintains daily communications with orthopaedic professionals, including written and oral, while managing and updating CRM to build relationships, engage existing contacts, and drive participation towards membership goals  
  • Conceptualizes and executes direct response acquisition and retention marketing campaigns across integrated channels including email, direct mail, social, telemarketing and web  
  • Supports the definition, evolution and reinforcement of a clear and consistent brand voice and identity for the Academy  
  • Updates and manages internal website and landing pages, where applicable   
  • Executes copy and creation of visual marketing collateral with a strong emphasis on email marketing 
  • Interprets marketing analytics and produce reports for constituents and internal stakeholders on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and determine ROI on marketing tactics for all retention and acquisition channels  
  • Manages relationships with internal departments and external partners, including but not limited to Membership Operations, TDS, and MarCom, design, education, publications and website teams   
  • Represents company at customer or industry events where applicable   
  • Builds, manages and reports on budgets, as requested  
  • Collaborates with Manager in deriving strategy and execution of all acquisition and renewal communications for key audience personas. Completes full member journeys for acquisition and renewal to all audience segments. 
  • Executes all Marketo email messaging for acquisition and renewal team including email template design, list uploads and lead segmentation, quality control, marketing calendar and analytics tracking 
  • Handles full acquisition of and coordinate enrollment for all residents during pre-determined acquisition period for all partner resident institutions and report updates to manager on a regular basis. Ensures seamless handoff with onboarding and engagement team in order to deliver superb member experience for newest members of the Academy 
  • Obtains quotes and timelines from applicable internal and external vendors for execution of corresponding marketing projects as determined by Manager 
  • Supports manager in execution of paid social ad campaigns as necessary for acquisition of domestic and international members 
  • Creates necessary print and digital collateral for promotional purposes in collaboration with Manager and Academy Design department for purposes of acquisition at events  
  • Serves as liaison to Academy Service Center to ensure delivery of lapsed surveys and drop prevention messaging and communications during key periods throughout the year

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field  
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Marketing, Communications/PR or Advertising preferred   
  • Portray a positive, can-do attitude with priority on team, not individual success  
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment both within a team or independently  
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills  
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint  
  • Experience providing creative direction to external partners/agencies  
  • Understanding of basic CRM strategies and practices  
  • Bilingual, with working written and oral Spanish knowledge  

Desired:

  • Basic skill with HTML and/or web development software  
  • Basic skill with marketing automation (Marketo is a plus) 
  • Basic skill with graphic design software  
  • Previous work experience in an association and/or NGO business model  
  • Experience with Personify or similar AMS 
  • Experience with video content creation and paid social media campaigns and/or large media buys
