The Education Coordinator, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), coordinates a variety of detailed and complex projects to assist with the maintenance of a healthy and viable membership organization.  Coordinate the development, organization and implementation of the society’s meetings and course arrangements.  Serve as a liaison to committees as assigned to accomplish their stated initiatives and projects.  Provide on-site support at assigned meetings and courses.  

Coordinate, implement and evaluate the education logistics and operational elements for the Annual Meeting on time and within budget.

  • Liaison with program chairs and committees to evaluate and develop educational programing. Recommend new learning or environment formats to enhance the attendees’ experience and implement as directed.
  • Schedule and participate in committee calls and meetings; generate committee correspondence, including but not limited to, agenda preparation, minutes, and responses to inquiries as requested.
  • Create timelines for committee chairs to complete their specific tasks.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the development, management and evaluation of speakers and faculty.
  • Work with the Audio-Visual Vendor on Speaker ready room specifications
  • Work with Manager to create budgets and to ensure for proper and transparent record keeping; meet financial goals.
  • Assist with the marketing and promotional strategies with Society Communications Coordinator.
  • Coordinate the creation, production, and distribution of course and meeting materials, including the print and electronic preliminary and final programs, within budget and timeline.
  • Collect, prepare, and distribute materials and meeting evaluations for ACCME review and action; ensure programs comply with ACCME regulations.
  • Assist with registration program build with Society Coordinator.
  • Assist with meeting shipments; pack/unpack meeting materials.
  • Coordinate security with vendor 
  • Create the onsite staff guide and schedule.
  • Evaluate and/or maintain procedures, descriptions, announcements, statistical reports and history.
  • Assist with meeting shipments; pack/unpack meeting materials.

Coordinate, implement and evaluate the logistical and operational elements for the IPOS Meeting on time and within budget.

  • Create, process and collect applications for the IPOS scholarship program; ensure compliance, coordinate selection process and handle all communications.
  • Coordinate the development of the Resident/Fellow Programming including the Case Competition and the Top Gun Competition.
  • Create, process and collect submissions for the ePoster program; ensure compliance; coordinate selection process and handle all communications
  • Create, process and collect submissions for the Lunchtime Career Development program; ensure compliance; coordinate selection process and handle all communication.
  • Coordinate the creation of the pre-meeting webinar.
  • Assist with meeting shipments; pack/unpack meeting materials.

Coordinate all aspects of abstract management and submission processes for the Society’s programming, including papers and posters.

  • Serve as the liaison to the abstract vendor; work with the vendor to ensure correct data input and accurate reports.
  • Create the abstract application for papers and posters, in collaboration with the Program Committee. 
  • Create dispense, and track all communications related to the abstract process and scientific program.
  • Assign abstracts to relevant parties, monitor grading progress, create reports, and enter data into abstract system. 
  • Ensure disclosures are up-to-date and complete.
  • Assist with implementing and adhering to policies set by the Program Committee.
  • Evaluate the abstract management process and system and provide recommendations for improvement. 

Ensure all other Society educational programing are produced on time, within budget, and in line with the strategic plan.

  • Support the Educational Courses Committee to develop, implement and evaluate webinars, the tutorial and global courses programs.
  • Coordinate the process of co-branding courses within the AAOS Annual Meeting.

Provide support and guidance to leadership and staff.

  • Support leadership with agenda development, arrange and communicate the meetings; distribute agenda materials; write appropriate reports; draft, distribute, and archive meeting minutes/official business; and conduct follow-up on action items. 
  • Work with leadership to implement committees’ deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Review and evaluate activities on a regular basis; ensure committees are meeting objectives; provide guidance as necessary.
  • Ensure materials on course and meeting website are up to date.
  • Evaluate and/or maintain procedures, descriptions, announcements, statistical reports and history.
  • Develop and maintain effective communications and relations with leadership 

Conduct other duties as needed or assigned.

  • Develop and maintain protocols and procedures related to position’s responsibilities. 
  • Provide administrative support as request to facilitate society and department projects and activities.
  • Copy, route, and file paperwork; track and order supplies.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


  • Approximately 10-15 days per year
